The Baselight Color Correction Suite is a resource available to RIT Students, Staff, MAGIC Research and for commercial use. This suite consists of a color correction room that doubles as a screening room complementing the various educational programs in this specialty field, and is Available for post-production rental. 

The features are the room are:

  • Color Correction Systems : Davinci Resolve & Filmlight Baselight

  • 4K Christie Laser Projection

  • Sony X300 4K V2 OLED Master Monitor

  • Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound

Please review the following criteria and information below in order to request access to The Baselight Color Correction Suite.

Failure to follow these policies will result in loss of access to the Color Correction Suite

Warning

Access to the Baselight Color Correction Suite is a privilege. We extend you our trust when we grant you access to this space. Any abuse or neglect of policies, procedures, or equipment will result in removal of access to the space. Propping doors or providing access to those who do not have approval to be in the facility will result in loss of access.

Access Info and Requirements 

To gain access to be able to reserve and use this room you have to have completed one of the following: 

  • Taken the Color Correction class

  • Attended a one of the Color Correction Workshops hosted by a PA for access 

  • Talked directly with a Color PA to be trained on the room

Facility Rules & Etiquette

Zero Tolerance Policies

  • Food & drink are NOT ALLOWED in the color suite - please leave food & drinks on the provided table before entering the color suite

  • All trash should be removed from the color suite once your have finished, the desk and X300 should all be put down, all devices and lights must be turned off and the door must be closed.

    • Make sure to turn off the projector before leaving.

  • Do not touch any displays or monitors with your hands or try to clean them yourself (this includes the Dell monitors, the X300 HDR display, and the Stewart SnoMatte 100 Film Screen)

  • Do not store personal or project data directly on the PC. Stored data may be deleted as needed.

We welcome your feedback to improve the space and if there are any questions understanding the suite or with the facilities, please submit tech needs, help requests from the Color PA, suggestions, comments, concerns, etc to the MAGIC PAs and MAGIC tech through placing a helpdesk ticket


How to Request Access 

You must reserve the color suite in order to utilize it for color grading sessions. Please give yourself ample time in advance of your grading session to make a reservation. All reservations must be approved. 

Visit reserve.rit.edu to reserve the Color Correction Suite (MSS-2160)

  • Log in with your RIT account

  • Navigate to "Create a Reservation"

  • Select "Book Now" next to "Request MAGIC Specialty Space"

  • Select the date, time and room for your reservation and submit

Warning

Making a reservation DOES NOT verify your access to the space. Your reservation must be APPROVED by the MAGIC facilities manager. Once approved, you will gain swipe access to the space during your scheduled time.
